Nexdome Assembly

Description

I purchased my Nexdome in fall of 2019. I wasn't concerned about delivery delays as I had just moved to a new farm and the wife's project list was extensive. I picked up a scopebuggy in the interim and it worked out well.

I am a previous owner of a SkyShedPod. As with everything, there were pros and cons with the POD but assembly was a breeze and overall I found it a good purchase. I went with the

Nexdome this go around because of the material used. I have moved to Florida from South Carolina and I feel The Nexdome’s sun blocking performance will be better than the PODs more transparent material in keeping the heat out. In both cases I purchased a dome cover and will most likely run a portable A/C unity in the Nexdome to help keep the heat and humidity from destroying my equipment.

I will have to double check on when I took delivery of the Nexdome, but as I recall it took several months. I have finally gotten around to putting the dome together this June 2020. First hiccup was they didn't send all of the wheels. I shot them an email and I had the missing wheels a couple days later. I was most impressed with the response time with that issue.

The process of putting the dome together has been slow as it requires two people. I can't rely on the wife as she left me hanging on a 30 ft ladder in the past and she disappeared for 20 minutes going to get me a tool, then remembered she hadn’t fed the cat and there were some weeds alongside the house that needed to be pulled...you get my drift. I found a guy that would give me a hand and we were able to get the dome top put

together. The bays were a an easy assembly solo but unless you are a person with exceptionally long arms, you cannot put the dome together solo and lock it all down.

The directions for assembly are on line, they do not ship you instructions except for what I assume is a new part to keep the dome shutter locked in position during high winds.

Unfortunately, thunderstorms rolled in and that is where I am to date. Will post more along with photos once I have the structure totally assembled and mounted on the deck.

I purchased the dome rotation motor, I will post about that as well when I get to that point.
